The AWESOME Sarah Palin
Due to a mini-vacation, I haven’t been at a computer since Friday morning. At that time, rumours were floating around about a certain plane flying from Alaska. Eventually I learned that it was confirmed that Sarah Palin had been selected as John McCain’s running mate. She was my number one pick all spring and summer, but I wasn’t sure if John McCain would choose her. I hoped and I hoped (just ask Derek), and you can only imagine my excitement when it was confirmed. My only disappointments were that I couldn’t get access to a computer or even watch FOX news. As a last (pathetic) resort, I turned to CNN and laughed at them calling it a “shocker” and scrambling to find “something” negative about Palin.
It is exciting to see such a contrast in the two parties. The Republican party represents a REAL choice for LIFE and conservative values. It stands as a stark contrast to the radical liberal pro-death Democratic party that is supported by both the mainstream media and Hollywood.
I found links to these images in my inbox as soon as I got home.

When I checked my blogroll, I was delighted to read that some of my favorite bloggers like Sarah Palin as much as I do.

Did you see the Palin family is planning on homeschooling (at least in part?) Seems the most logical way to combine campaigning/family/transitioning to Washington.
We are so pleased too. As my son said, “We may have underestimated John McCain.”
How lovely to see those pictures of Governor Palin with her baby in the sling!
I read your blog often and agree with your views on homeschooling, attachment parenting, sleep sharing, vaccinations…
I can’t understand, for the life of me, why you would be excited about a woman who has chosen career over family, like Palin. Clearly, her 17-year-old pregnant daughter needs her now, but instead she’s choosing to immerse herself in a presidential campaign to get the 2nd hardest job in the country. Clearly, her special needs baby would benefit from a full-time mother, but instead she’s applauded for going back to work 3 days after giving birth.
I don’t get how she’s a role model to Christian women.
I am sincerely asking you to explain your position. I understand if you’re a republican and intend to support the republican candidate, but to hail her as a champion for motherhood (and the sacrifices that that entails) is beyond my understanding. Please explain.
Thanks!

Hi Delina,
Nice to meet you. Thanks for commenting. I can understand your concerns.
Sarah’s pregnant daughter is seventeen. My grandmother married at seventeen, and my mother married at sixteen, and I had my first date with my husband at fourteen. I think Sarah’s oldest daughter will love being married and having a baby. I think she will also love being the daughter of the first female vice-president.
Sarah took her baby to work with her. She also did that with her youngest daughter. She breastfeeds (and pumps milk). She wears her baby in a sling when meeting with people and working. I believe in mother/child togetherness, and that does not necessarily have to be in the home. Sarah is not the typical mom who does cleaning and cooking and laundry. I see nothing wrong in having hired help for ALL housekeeping jobs as long as the mother stays connected with the child. I have no doubt that Sarah will continue having her baby and daughters close as she works as Vice-President.
I think Sarah Palin can be likened to an Esther.
I think people should be much more concerned with the millions and millions of fathers who are completely absent from their homes. It appears that Sarah’s husband will be responsible for distance education homeschooling!
I am not a Republican. I am Canadian.

“I’ve thought almost incessantly in the past twenty-fours about how in the world Mrs. Palin can possibly accomplish all she does. I want her time management skills. I bet she doesn’t waste one precious second peering into other women’s homes and marriages and families and judging how they should be living out their vocations. Instead, she hears the call of her Maker. She keeps her eyes on her own work. He’s asking her to make a huge sacrifice for His kingdom. He’s asking her to take on a daunting task for the culture of life. He’s asking her to act as a woman of conviction. Instead of wasting time worrying about the intimate details of her family, maybe we all should spend our time in prayer for her and for our country.” Elizabeth Foss
