Spitting in the eye of mainstream education
    http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-charter31-2009may31,0,6518091,full.story

“Not many schools in California recruit teachers with language like this: ‘We are looking for hard working people who believe in free market capitalism. . . . Multi-cultural specialists, ultra liberal zealots, and college-tainted oppression liberators need not apply.’”

“Three no-frills charter schools in Oakland mock liberal orthodoxy, teach strictly to the test — and produce some of the state’s top scores…”

“School administrators take pride in their record of frequently firing teachers they consider to be underperforming…”

    “So what are they doing?”

“The short answer is that American Indian attracts academically motivated students, relentlessly (and unapologetically) teaches to the test, wrings more seat time out of every school day, hires smart young teachers, demands near-perfect attendance, piles on the homework, refuses to promote struggling students to the next grade, and keeps discipline so tight that there are no distractions or disruptions. Summer school is required…”

“(‘basket weaving,’ he scoffed). ‘You think the Jews and the Chinese are dumb enough to ask the public school to teach them their culture?’”

“There is no basket weaving at American Indian now — and little else that won’t directly affect standardized test scores…”

“American Indian’s administrators believe that one of the secrets to success in middle school is having one instructor teach all subjects except physical education. The goal is to have that teacher stay with the same children all three years — a policy that seems to be more theory than reality, given high teacher turnover…”

“There are no televisions at American Indian — no computers in the classrooms, either…”

    Harsanyi: Abortion debate changing
    http://www.denverpost.com/harsanyi/ci_12454493

“What happens when we can use abortion to weed out the blind, mentally ill, the ugly, or any other any “undesirable” human being?”

“In the United States, a woman can have an abortion for nearly any reason she chooses. In fact, a health exemption for the mother allows abortions to be performed virtually on demand.”

“If you oppose selective abortions, but not abortion overall, I wonder why? How is terminating the fetus because it’s the wrong sex any worse than terminating the fetus for convenience’s sake? The fate of the fetus does not change, only the reasoning for its extinction does.”

    Shocking True Story

Night at the Museum 2 … Down's Syndrome

    carol | May 23, 2009

All six of us went to Night at the Museum 2: The Battle of the Smithsonian last night. Like the first one, it was a great family movie for all ages and interests. I can’t resist a movie with miniature people. I loved the addition of Abraham Lincoln in this sequel.

Behind us in the theatre, sat an older woman and two younger women with Down’s Syndrome. I overheard the older lady say that the three of them have gone to the movies every Friday night since the theatre opened. No wonder we have seen them there several times before. It has been many years since the theatre was built.

During the movie, we could hear the two young women clap and cheer with tremendous enthusiasm. It made me wish I could join in, but I held back, remembering how you are “supposed” to act in a theatre. The two mentally challenged young women had such spontaneous joy. Their caretaker was a very kind, older woman who has obviously committed her life to giving the girls the best life she can. For them, that means going to the movies every Friday night.

Other people make different choices. These days, Down’s Syndrome is usually diagnosed during pregnancy and 90% of the time, the children are sentenced to death - simply because they have an extra chromosome. Just because these children will need more help in their lives, people think that they would be better off dead.

Looking at those young ladies, I imagined how often human beings just like them are legally murdered. Violently ripped from their mothers’ wombs because they weren’t good enough.

“‘I had abortions that I never realized I had until I learned how several methods of birth control I used in the early 70′s worked; that is, they caused the tiny babies (embryos) growing within my womb to abort without my knowing it because they were unable to implant in my uterine wall.’”

ABORTION: Obama, Notre Dame, The View Ladies, The Truth

    carol | May 18, 2009

Words Spoken By Obama Regarding Abortion:

Why does Obama say he wants abortion to be “rare”? Why should abortion be rare if it is a valid choice? Why does Obama describe abortion as a “moral” issue? If abortion is a moral issue, then does that mean there is something immoral about it? Obama says he wants us to find the “common ground” on abortion. That common ground should be the equal protection under the law for EVERY human being to have the right to life. And regarding Obama’s request for us to be “fair minded”? It is not FAIR for an innocent unborn child to be burned or ripped apart in the womb. I truly believe that a Christian cannot, in good conscience, support Barack Obama.

The 2 mile pro-life protest at Notre Dame

“The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform graciously let me [Jill Stanek] ride in 1 of its Truth Trucks to capture the following video. It tracks the impressive 2 mile continuous protest route from I80 to the campus’s main entrance. There was no other route for out-of-towners to take.”

God bless these people… Truly doing the Lord’s work. Watching this made me weep.

    The View Ladies and Abortion

I just caught the ladies on The View discussing abortion and the Notre Dame situation. Both Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar brought up the word “murder” when talking about abortion. They both label themselves as pro-life, yet believe in the right to choose abortion. Whoopi believes abortion is a financial decision. If the mother is too poor, and cannot provide for the child, then she should have the choice to abort the baby. They have no problem using the words “baby”, “child”, and “murder” when discussing abortion.

Sherri Shepherd said Planned Parenthood pressured her into having an abortion at 17 even though she was having second thoughts. Whoopi told Sherri that she was glad her baby was aborted. The others did not listen to the pain coming from Sherri who still suffers with guilt and remorse after so many years. Joy dismissed her by saying that she knows many women who do not have guilt after their abortions. Elisabeth Hasselbeck may be pro-life, yet she does not come across as educated on life issues.

Pro-abortion feminists Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar acknowledge abortion is murder. They acknowledge the fact that it is a baby. They still believe in the right to choose abortion.

They don’t see that abortion is an expoitation of women. They don’t see that a dollar value shouldn’t be placed on a child’s life. They don’t see that women are often coerced into having abortions. They don’t see that women are being used by men and then violated with the abortion cover-up. They don’t see that women have been deceived at the most basic level. The blood of their own children has been shed – by their own hands. Abortion does not help women.

EXPLOITATION – Abortion gives men the right to “use” women without consequences. Abortion exists so men can pursue a lifestyle of sexual irresponsibility without accountability.

COERCION – Men coerce women into believing that abortion is the only solution. Abortion provides an easy out for the man, certainly not for the woman.

DECEPTION – The woman is deliberately deceived about the abortion itself, its effects on her and on her living, growing child.

VIOLENCE – Abortion is a violent act against both the mother and the child.

“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” Deuteronomy 4:9

Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?” Proverbs 24:11,12

“They mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.” Psalm 106:35, 37-38

“This is what the LORD says: ‘A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more.’” Jeremiah 31:15

Governor Sarah Palin Weighs In On Notre Dame Scandal

“My favorite grandpa, Clem James Sheeran, was Catholic. Irish to the core, his favorite place (other than church) was Notre Dame. I can’t imagine what he would think as the university recognizes someone who contradicts the core values of the Catholic faith by promoting an anti-life agenda. As we learned today, our nation is more pro-life than ever before; it is a very important time to strengthen the message that every baby is created for good purpose and has the potential to make this world a better place.”
