Governor Sarah Palin Weighs In On Notre Dame Scandal

“My favorite grandpa, Clem James Sheeran, was Catholic. Irish to the core, his favorite place (other than church) was Notre Dame. I can’t imagine what he would think as the university recognizes someone who contradicts the core values of the Catholic faith by promoting an anti-life agenda. As we learned today, our nation is more pro-life than ever before; it is a very important time to strengthen the message that every baby is created for good purpose and has the potential to make this world a better place.”

Yes, every baby is created for a good purpose. There is a pervasive and tragic blindness to that reality in our world toady. The idea that we can solve social or personal problems by resorting to elective abortion is no more acceptable than slavery or Hitler’s national socialism. I’m reminded of John Quincy Adams who was a senator at another time when our society was overcome by a strange blindness that rendered people unable to see that slaves were human beings. To his Senatorial colleagues who squirmed and complained as he laid out the truth to them the said “Gentlemen I see the shoe pinches. It will pinch more yet”. It may take pinching to make our society face the truth again.
