This was more common when I had my first child. I think parents have changed their attitude because the shoes keep getting cuter. We do “socks” for warmth here in Canada.

I completely agree with this. My one year old has been walking since he was 9 months old, and he absolutely HATES walking in shoes. His balance is off, and he falls repeatedly. With bare feet, he can run without any problem!
I put shoes on him mostly for the “cuteness” factor.
