One Reason I Don’t Want You to Have an Abortion
It is always a struggle for me to decide how much personal material to share in this age of the internet. I want to give you as much as possible without putting my children at risk – now or in the future.
Many of you were with me when my unborn baby died in 2009, and you also followed my difficult pregnancy of 2010. Out of the pain came the most wonderful joy I could imagine. I want to share with you a bit of that joy.
The following video is of my baby daughter who is the delight of our family. We are all having so much fun with her. As an older mother of forty-one, I am definitely taking time to smell the roses (and the baby). Other things don’t take on the same urgency anymore. I spend most of my time just delighting in my baby and older children. They are all at the perfect ages right now. Babies this age are so easy – they can’t get very far on their own, and they don’t need solids yet. I can just sit and nurse. The middles are 6, 9, and 12 years old – all very independent and helpful. My oldest is 17 – in grade twelve now and starting university in the fall! I wish I could freeze time. But I don’t really. I love to see them grow and learn and change and become the people they were meant to be. I am so thankful to be a mother.

Her giggles are so adorable!
Awwwww!!!! Nothing like baby giggles. Too adorable!!
What lovely baby giggles!
I, too, am an older mom (but was once a very young mom). I had a baby at 20…then a few more… then one at 41, then lost one, then had the last one at 44.
I can tell you that I completely understand where you are coming from. My last is now 11 and we have all enjoyed him immensely. It’s a delight to have children when one is older. You simply don’t sweat the small stuff, and you treasure the experience. After all, how many moms get to have kids in their forties? We’re a rare breed.
