For more than a decade, I have kept my website ad-free, with the exception of book links which have generated only a few dollars. I stopped by the optometrist’s yesterday to get my new frames. The staff was getting all the customers to sign a letter to the government to make sure every child gets an eye appointment before he/she starts school. They didn’t stress that it was a marketing campaign for them so that the tax payer would pay for all these free appointments. We should be helping the poor, but the majority of parents should be responsible for their own children. The entitlement programs in Canada and spending money we don’t have are going to be its demise.

Exactly… I think people forget about that part. They just think “Oh, free appts!” and don’t realize that those doctors WILL be paid.
