Big sister knows how to give little sister a fun time. C10 set up the doll bathtub complete with waterbaby, soap and towels all on the kitchen floor. The Baby (doll) was an angel, but the Mommy (C1) got a little drenched. Waterplay is so much fun for a one-year-old… Had a fun afternoon snowshoeing with a lovely homeschooling family…

Traditional spiritual
Free from the law, O happy condition,
Jesus has bled and there is remission,
Cursed by the law and bruised by the fall, Grace hath redeemed us once for all.
Once for all, O sinner, receive it,
Once for all, O brother, believe it;
Cling to the cross, the burden will fall, Christ hath redeemed us once for all.
Now we are free, there’s no condemnation,
Jesus provides a perfect salvation.
“Come unto Me,” O hear His sweet call,
Come, and He saves us once for all.
“Children of God,” O glorious calling, Surely His grace will keep us from falling;
Passing from death to life at His call;
Blessèd salvation once for all.
My soul is filled with joy and gladness
Since Jesus came to me.
His love has banished all my sadness, From sin I am set free.
He set me free, He set me free,
I was blind, but hallelujah, now I see!
I shall ne’er forget the day When He washed my sins away,
And He set, He set me free.
The Comforter divine is dwelling
Within my soul today;
His love to others I am telling
Since Jesus came to stay.
The grace of Jesus hath abounded
For all my sins I see,
Salvation walls have me surrounded, From sin I am set free.
Once I was bound by sin’s galling fetters;
Chained like a slave, I struggled in vain. But I received a glorious freedom,
When Jesus broke my fetters in twain.
Glorious freedom! Wonderful freedom!
No more in chains of sin I repine!
Jesus the glorious Emancipator—
Now and forever He shall be mine.
Freedom from all the carnal affections;
Freedom from envy, hatred and strife;
Freedom from vain and worldly ambitions;
Freedom from all that saddened my life!
Freedom from pride and all sinful follies;
Freedom from love and glitter of gold;
Freedom from evil temper and anger;
Glorious freedom, rapture untold!
Freedom from fear with all of its torments;
Freedom from care with all of its pain;
Freedom in Christ, my blessèd Redeemer—
He Who has rent my fetters in twain.
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
C A N A D A . . . The country where taxpayers are forced to pay for the bloody dismemberment of about 100,000 unborn babies every year, for any reason, at any stage of development. More than three million unborn babies have died from abortion in Canada since 1969, when abortion was first decriminalized. Oh, Canada.
“Michele Bachmann spoke candidly Wednesday night about suffering a miscarriage.”
“‘After our second child was born, we became pregnant with a third baby,’ the Republican presidential candidate told hundreds during a town hall at Winthrop University here. ‘And it was an unexpected baby, but of course we were delighted to have this child. And the child was coming along, and we ended up losing that child. And it was devastating for both of us, as you can imagine if any of you have lost a child.’”
“The surprise disclosure came as she explained her opposition to abortion.”
“‘And at that moment we didn’t think of ourselves as overly career minded or overly materialistic,’ she said, also speaking for her husband. ‘When we lost that child, it changed us. And it changed us forever.’”
“Considering the sensitivity of the subject matter, Bachmann maintained remarkable composure. She did not choke up.”
“‘So we made a commitment that no matter how many children were brought into our life, we’d receive them because we’re committed to life,’ she said. ‘And we didn’t know at that time we’d be foster parents, and that one day we’d be parents of 28 children, but we are extremely grateful for that opportunity because you can get money wrong, but you can’t get life wrong. And I am committed to life.’”
“Bachmann has raised five biological children. The youngest just graduated from high school. Over the years, she and her husband took 23 foster children into their home.”
“‘This is an easy one,’ she said of abortion. ‘I am 100% pro-life, from conception until natural death.’”
“Madhya Pradesh state government is investigating claims that up to 300 girls were surgically turned into boys in one city after their parents paid about £2,000 each for the operations.”
“India’s gender balance has already been tilted in favour of boys by female foeticide – sex selection abortions – by families who fear the high marriage costs and dowries they may have to pay. There are now seven million more boys than girls aged under six in the country.”
“Allah honored wives by instating the punishment of beatings. The Prophet Muhammad said: ‘Don’t beat her in the face, and do not make her ugly.’ See how she is honored? If the husband beats his wife, he must not beat her in the face. Even when he beats her, he must not curse her. This is incredible! He beats her in order to discipline her. In addition, there must not be more than ten beatings, and he must not break her bones, injure her, break her teeth, or poke her in the eye. There is a beating etiquette. If he beats to discipline her, he must not raise his hand high. He must beat her from chest level. All these things honor the woman. She is in need of discipline. How should the husband discipline her? Through admonishment. If she is not deterred, he should refuse to share the bed with her. If she is not repentant, he should beat her, but there are rules to the beating. It is forbidden to beat her in the face or make her ugly. When you beat her, you must not curse her. Islam forbids this.”
“With what should he beat her? With his bare hand? With a rod?”
“If he beats her, the beatings should not be hard, so that they do not leave a mark. He can beat her with a short rod. He must avoid beating her in the face or in places in the head where it hurts. The beatings should be on the body and should not come one right after the other…”
He goes on to back track and says it is only for one reason, but the Quran Sura 4:34 says,
“Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the others, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen [parts] because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them to beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. Allah is High, Supreme.” (Hat Tip: skai)
The rhetoric spewed by this Islamic religious zealot reminds me so much of the child spanking issue among Christians. I am tired of the semantics game where so many parents insist that they “spank”, but they do not “hit” or “beat” their children. They are so certain in their own minds that what they do is not abuse. Certain Christians have lots of little rules and rituals and recommended tools for the physical punishment of children, just like the Islamic fundamentalists have for beating women. Just today, a gentleman reassured me that as a father, he “did spank when it was needed and only on their buttocks.”
“Gary Ezzo teaches that children ought to be ‘chastised’ with a ‘biblical rod’ which he describes as ‘somewhat flexible, not stiff or unbending’ instrument (GKGW, p.220). Ezzo families sometimes describe this being a wide strip of rubber tubing, a rubber show sole, a thin razor strap, or a large glue stick.”
“Michael and Debbie Pearl similary suggest that ‘a light, flexible instrument will sting without bruising or causing internal damage. Many people are using a section of ¼ inch plumber’s supply line as a spanking instrument.’”
“Credenda Agenda suggests, ‘. . .wood seems the obvious choice. Look for something about a cubit long that flirts with flexibility, but be sure it’s strong enough. . .’ Volume 14, Issue 4″
“Both Ezzo and Pearl call for immediate obedience from children, followed by ‘chastisement’ with the rod if they don’t comply without delay.”
Another author who shares the same position on punishing children as Ezzo and Pearl is Douglas Wilson. His book, ‘Standing on the Promises’ was the catalyst that forced me to study this issue. In his chapter on the application of Godly discipline, he writes a scenario with the following quote from one of the characters,
“There are times when my wife spent the whole day with a wooden spoon in her hip pocket… Discipline must be painful. It must not inflict damage, so use a ‘flat’ wooden spatula. At the same time it must inflict pain- memorable ‘pain’. Don’t spank over diapers. Don’t spank with a little tap, tap, tap. Teach your wife to flick her wrist when she spanks, and teach her to think, sting.” p. 120-121
“Idolatry of religion. This is perhaps the subtlest form of all. As McFarland puts it, ‘As a perfectionist who read the Bible every day and clung to commands to be perfect, holy, and to sin not, I committed idolatry. … I missed the voice that said Come to Me. Rest. I thought my obedience was the standard, not the love of Christ.’”
“A Paradise couple convicted of whipping an adopted daughter to death and injuring two other children were sentenced Friday to upper terms in state prison.”
“In China, India and numerous other countries (both developing and developed), there are many more men than women, the result of systematic campaigns against baby girls.”
“In India there are 112 boys born for every 100 girls. In China, the number is 121—though plenty of Chinese towns are over the 150 mark. China’s and India’s populations are mammoth enough that their outlying sex ratios have skewed the global average to a biologically impossible 107. But the imbalance is not only in Asia. Azerbaijan stands at 115, Georgia at 118 and Armenia at 120.”
“What is causing the skewed ratio: abortion. If the male number in the sex ratio is above 106, it means that couples are having abortions when they find out the mother is carrying a girl. By Ms. Hvistendahl’s counting, there have been so many sex-selective abortions in the past three decades that 163 million girls, who by biological averages should have been born, are missing from the world. Moral horror aside, this is likely to be of very large consequence.”
“If you peer hard enough at the data, you can actually see parents demanding boys. Take South Korea. In 1989, the sex ratio for first births there was 104 boys for every 100 girls—perfectly normal. But couples who had a girl became increasingly desperate to acquire a boy. For second births, the male number climbed to 113; for third, to 185. Among fourth-born children, it was a mind-boggling 209…”
“Today in India, the best predictor of violence and crime for any given area is not income but sex ratio.”
