Voting in the Canadian Election *sigh*

    | April 26, 2011

We headed to the advanced polls on the weekend to vote for the least of evils. I had to wash my hands after I voted Progressive Conservative. I wish they had a secret small-c conservative agenda, but they don’t. :-(

    Canadian Political Parties

In Canada, there are four “leading” political parties. They are the Conservatives, Liberals, NDP (New Democratic Party), and Québéc is allowed to elect candidates from the separatist Parti Québécois to the Canadian Parliament.

It is truly a case of voting for the least evil party.

The Conservatives are now in power and under Prime Minister Stephen Harper, they have been basically forbidden to even mention the word abortion. He has no intention of opening the abortion debate, and although some of the Conservative Members of Parliament are pro-life, it is expected that the slaughter of the unborn will continue under a Harper government. For the most part, the Conservative party is socially liberal, although it could be considered less liberal then the other parties. It might be called fiscally conservative, but it still spends too much.

The Liberal party is small “l” liberal through and through. History has shown that almost every Liberal MP votes pro-abortion on life issues, and every Liberal party leader, since I remember, has been fully deserving of the pro-abortion title.

The NDP has a completely pro-abortion, socialist platform.

The separatist Parti Québécois has candidates only in Québéc, and they, too, are radically pro-abortion.

In a few areas, people have the option of voting for the Christian Heritage Party.

How did we get to this point?

    Apathy… Ignorance… Misunderstanding of true Christianity…

Our pulpits remain silent. For the most part, the churches are completely uninvolved in politics, even though the most basic Christian values have been taken away, and many more are at risk. In Canada, abortion is permitted from conception to partial birth, for any reason, paid for by tax money. This is because human beings that have not completely left their mothers’ wombs are not considered “persons” in Canadian law.

Until just over a week ago, the Canadian media spoke in one, solidified, radical left, liberal, and often government-funded voice. Media bias is blatant and unapologetic. With the hopeful exception of SUN NEWS, we cannot turn on Canadian television or radio and hear an alternative point of view. As a result, a great percentage of the most recent generations of people proclaim anti-life, anti-family, and anti-Christian values. There is also a general anti-American attitude. The few Canadians searching for the truth rely on the rare small “c” conservative blogs and pro-life websites.

The Canadian educational system has been firmly entrenched in liberalism and secular humanism for at least the past twenty-five years. Public schools have no freedom of religion, nor even freedom from religion, but rather have embraced the religion of humanist indoctrination. Our universities are cranking out liberal lawyers, and reporters, and teachers, etc., left and right left.

Huge numbers of recent immigrants do not have a Christian heritage.

How does a Canadian Christian vote?

In the Canadian electoral system, citizens are not permitted to vote directly for the Prime Minister. In each home riding, there are usually the three main parties represented, and we vote for the person we want to represent us as our local Member of Parliament. The party with the highest amount of Members gets its leader elected as Prime Minister.

In this system, it is possible to elect a pro-life MP and get a pro-abortion Prime Minister at the same time. The ideal would be to have a pro-life MP and a pro-life Prime Minister, but sadly, we haven’t seen a pro-life Prime Minister in my lifetime. In a country with a small population, there have been more than 3 million unborn Canadians killed since 1969 and the same number of women wounded by abortion.

Stephen Harper is pro-abortion, but denied at least some funding to abortions outside of Canada. Michael Ignatieff is pro-abortion and wants Canada to fund and export abortion around the world. Jack Layton is a pro-abortion extremist. In our local riding, the only candidate that responded as a pro-lifer is from the Conservative party.

Quote from Carolyn Egan, pro-choice activist, “We believe that a majority Conservative government will put abortion at risk in this country. Prime Minister Harper has tried to assure Canadian women that we have nothing to fear from a Conservative government. We are saying very clearly today that his actions speak louder than his words and we are raising the alarm that our right to choice on abortion will be in jeopardy if he is allowed to form the next government.”

Quote from Brian Lilley, Byline, SunNews, “A group of abortion activists gathering at the Morgentaler clinic in Toronto to call for people to vote against Stephen Harper – not for somebody, they just want to stop Stephen Harper from forming a government because they are convince that he’s a social conservative, even though I can’t find a single social conservative that will say that’s what he is. In fact, they look at him with as much suspicion as that lady you just heard from there. What’s striking about this though, and we’ll talk to our next guest about this, this was a private clinic that gets an awful lot of funding from the public healthcare system taking a political stand.”

    Canada’s most notorious abortionist, Morgentaler

In my area, based on the voting record of our local Conservative member of Parliament and the pro-abortion or non-responding positions of the other candidates, I feel my best option is to vote Conservative. My advice is to vote for a pro-life candidate who has a record or reputation for standing up for the unborn.

    Research your local candidate here:

    http://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/index.php?p=Federal

I take my right to vote very seriously. It wasn’t that many years ago that women, too, were considered “non-persons” and did not have the right to vote.

Why is the abortion issue so important?

A politician’s position on abortion is an excellent litmus test in determining his or her character and moral fiber. A person who has a strong belief in the sanctity and protection of human life from conception through natural death is more likely to care about the rights and needs of everyone. A person who believes that women can be exploited, coerced, deceived, and violated with the destruction of their unborn does not deserve your vote. If you think this is a gray issue, do some research on fetal development and post-abortion syndrome.

In Canada, life issues have been blatantly ignored, year after year, and hope is dismal that things will change anytime soon. Christian values continue to be eroded, and the people are changing. And it is not for the good.

    No Turning Back?

My son wrote the following comments in an essay he finished today: “People understand the game, they know that they can vote government entitlements and funding to themselves, and politicians know that the leaders who can satisfy those demands will be liked. If you abandon reason and say, well, there is no definable limit to the role of government and what it can tax from people then anything is possible. That is why you have large sector of the population that lives off the state, a larger sector that pays no income tax, and a huge government bureaucracy that employs millions in comfortable but often useless jobs. There is a vast dependency and sense of entitlement that is easy to inflate, but almost impossible to reduce.” My son, N17

The following quote is attributed to Alexander Tytler: “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they… can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

Canada’s House of Commons passes transgender bill
    http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/canadas-house-of-commons-passes-transgender-bill

“Canada’s House of Commons narrowly passed a ‘transgender’ bill Wednesday evening in a vote of 143-135.”

“Bill C-389, which seeks to add ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender expression’ to the Canada Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code’s hate crimes section, will now move to the Senate for consideration.”

“‘We find the whole thing appalling,’ said Jim Hughes, national president of Campaign Life Coalition. ‘We find the lack of opposition from church leaders especially was deafening. The people are ignorant of it and what is going to happen next.’”

It would allow men who say they are women to use women’s washrooms, with a danger of increasing bathroom attacks against women.”

If Canada’s Bill C-389 passes, transgenderism will be taught in kindergarten: CLC

Children’s BMI rose the more years their mothers worked over their children’s lifetimes.”

“Surprisingly, changes in children’s physical activity, time spent unsupervised, and time spent watching TV didn’t explain the link between maternal employment and children’s BMI.”

“The total number of years mothers were employed had a small but cumulative influence on their children’s BMI, which, over time, can lead to an increase in the likelihood of overweight or obesity.”

    The Prolife Tea Party Vote

Did you know that abortion is legal in Canada, for ANY reason, up until PARTIAL-birth, paid for by our tax dollars? It would have been legal for me to have my baby killed just over seven weeks ago, and any time during the previous nine months of her life. This is why I say, Ohhhhhhhhh :-( Canada.
